Economic Drivers as a Tool for Predicting Demand for Software The economy is a mess. Is this a problem -- or an opportunity -- for the engineering and engineering software community? We'll review a dozen key issues facing us (our "needs") and the innovation opportunities each of these provides for engineering to respond. In many areas of greatest need, it also turns out a better understanding of customers (their "wants") is required to get us where we want to go. The session has two objectives. First, to stir thinking for the two days ahead. Second, to give each participant an actionable idea or two to improve their own corner of the global economy. Turn disruption into opportunity! COFES 2008 and COFES 2009 attendees can download the PDF of this presentation at http://cofes.com/Default.aspx?tabid=450
