What is SaaSGrid?

Created by Apprenda in late 2008, SaaSGrid is a cloud-based platform designed to help independent software vendors establish, deliver, and manage their SaaS products.

Revolutionary upon its release, Apprenda took the Platform-as-a-Service strategy and made it more accessible. Other PaaS businesses tended to constrict ISVs with technological lock-ins, such as domain-specific language and closed-source technology. SaaSGrid allows ISVs to utilize the SaaS model while having more control over their programming requirements.

Benefits

Customers of this service can enjoy the same benefits that come from typical SaaS platforms due to the cloud-based nature of the software. They don’t need to waste time, effort, and money on architectural management such as software maintenance or app delivery, so developers can focus more on enhancing their product and cultivating a positive customer experience. Also, with more control over the creation and design of their applications, ISVs are able to build and deploy them faster, decreasing time to market.

Features

SaaSGrid provides an abundance of resources for any size company looking for solutions. Here are just a few of their key features.

1. Modernizes Existing Apps

Architecture that has been supported by use of daemons can be included in SaasGrid’s application package. This not only makes it easier to manage these apps, but also allows them to be discovered by Apprenda’s Application Programming Interface (API) for better integration availability with other apps.

2. Multi-Tenant Support

Multi-tenant architecture refers to when a single instance of software and its infrastructure is shared by multiple customers. Although it provides less customization than single-tenant, multi-tenant is generally easier to set up, maintain, and integrate with other systems. Therefore, the application is delivered faster and made more affordable.

Apprenda is, itself, multi-tenant, so a company using their service has their infrastructure in a central location with easy access for each department. SaaSGrid also provides single instance multi-tenancy, wherein the application components are shared across the customer base.

3. Entitlement Engine

With the multi-tenant structure, this feature allows certain users to be grouped into specific categories and have separate tailored application experiences. The entitlement engine can be utilized to keep these groups organized and promote the features of your product they will find most beneficial to their user journey.

4. Provisioning System

This feature integrates with a company’s customer acquisition process for ease of onboarding new leads. SaasGrid takes the information that leads enter upon signup and gives them immediate resources for using your product. This lowers the cost for typical onboarding strategies by automating certain elements so you and your team don’t have to constantly monitor the process.
