SEMrush Key Features
SEMrush’s specialty is its tools that analyze any website and produce valuable information about either your or another website, like a competitor. Knowing your competitors’ edge is invaluable information for someone seeking to compete in the online marketing world. SEMrush breaks down all that information and gives you key information on how to replicate and expand on how, what, and why your competitor is getting ranked.
Finding out how to rank can be difficult. SEMrush makes it easier using analytics. By keying in your competitor’s website, SEMrush analyzes that site’s keywords, traffic, and traffic cost. These three metrics give you an edge on knowing what it is causing that site to rank and provides a quick roadmap towards crafting SEO-optimized content that can get ranked.
SEMrush has many tools and features that make SEO optimization and SERP ranking more accessible and efficient.
- Organic Search Options: Keyword research is the key to SEO optimization. SEMrush shows all the keywords that a site ranks for and where they rank. Also shown in the analytics is the amount of traffic each keyword generates.
- Traffic Analytics: This feature shows a website’s overall traffic from all websites, not just from Google. Also shown is how that site’s audience interacts with that site: average page views, session durations, and bounce rate. SEMrush’s traffic analytics breaks down overall traffic sources, showing you where that site is getting its traffic which shows you what is working and where. This is another good roadmap to find what is working and where to invest your time to be competitive.
- Site Audit: SEMrush Site Audit is an SEO tool that locates onsite issues related to SEO. With this tool, you can check and test your site’s health and pinpoint problems to fix, making your site more accessible and attractive to search engines.
- Keyword Difficulty: Knowing how a keyword will perform helps you choose keywords that optimize your content. The more difficult a keyword or how steep the competition is, the harder it is to get ranked. SEMrush shows which keywords are more likely to get your content and website ranked.
- Content Analyzer: Once you publish content on a website, SEMrush analyzes, measures, tracks, and evaluates your content. It also tracks shares on popular social media sites. With the content analyzer, you can see what is working and what is not, making content creation more streamlined and on track with success.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which SEMrush plan is right for me or my business?
Knowing which plan is right for you depends on what you or your business needs. If you have an extensive client roster or many websites, using the Guru or Business plan is better. You can always upgrade or downgrade. Take advantage of the 7-day free trial and try out as many of the features as you can, and get a good feel for whether the service is a good fit for your business.
Does SEMrush have a free subscription?
If you try the 7-day free trial and it is still outside your budget or needs, you can downgrade to a free account that has its own set of valuable features, though limited.
With a free account, you can perform up to 10 searches a day in the Domain Analytics and Keyword Analytics databases. Only one project is allowed. With the free version, you can only track ten keywords. The SEO auditing tool also audits for SEO errors but will only crawl through 100 pages. Though limited, the free account still has valuable tools and resources available at no cost.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
Semrush offers a 7-day free trial and a 7-day money-back guarantee. Within seven days of the subscription order, a customer can cancel their subscription and request a refund in writing.
